No Touching Ground

Catch & Release

Through painting, drawing and installation No Touching Ground (NTG ) presents the process of disseminating a message throughout the city using pigeons  - each pigeon he catches is released back into ‘nature’ carrying a single word of the story affixed to its leg.

This transcendental poetry is an act of human flight; through his words and work, NTG inhabits the city sky. NTG succeeds in recalling our human yearning towards flight while examining our urban existence and its relationship with nature.

NTG’s secretive story is a 50 word narrative translated into his own symbol language. Each word of the message is hand silk-screened (each an individual edition of 1) and placed in a custom designed vehicle, which is attached to each pigeon.

Using hand built traps, carriers and coops, NTG crafts each step of the process carefully as part of the material narrative that accompanies the written words.
